Reptiles

Protected under the Wildlife and countryside act 1981, it is illegal to harm, kill sell or trade any of the UK’s six reptile species.

We have worked extensively with all six of the UK’s native reptile species. We have been involved in the translocation many tens of thousands of individuals across a full spectrum of habitats, from brownfield sites to highway and rail settings.

We offer a wide range of services for working with reptiles. Including, but not limited to:

Habitat creation and management, such as the creation of basking banks, building of log piles, hibernacula and woodchip piles, scrub management and planting.

Semi permanent and temporary exclusion fencing, bespoke to the species on site as well the supply of trapping aids such as tins and roofing felts.

Case studies: We have worked with a population of slow worms living in the cracks in the concrete of a disused carpark, a site with a population density of over three thousand individuals per hector, a sand lizard that was caught, moved to the receptor site 350m away, and then caught again within 48hrs before the instillation of exclusion fencing, and a snake nest found in less that 4 inches of woodchip.
