Amphibians

Protected in the UK under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981. Priority Species under the UK Post-2010 Biodiversity Framework. Listed as a European Protected Species under Annex IV of the European Habitats Directive.

Over the last fifteen years we have been involved in the successful translocation of over 45,000 GCN.

Our amphibian services include, but are not limited to:

Habitat creation and management, such as breeding pond creation and planting, scrub planting and management, building of Hibernacula and log piles.

Semi-permanent and temporary exclusion fencing, as well as trapping aids such as pitfall traps and carpet tiles.

Case studies: We have worked with populations breeding in running water, a population of 58 individuals living in a 8” concrete garden pond, a population of over ten thousand living in the remains of an old oil refinery which had every waterbody in the area polluted with unprocessed crude oil and a large population living in a sheep grazed field.
